Got a call from a guy in the Midtown neighborhood in Ventura. He had a 2018 Dodge Durango GT sitting in his driveway, one key left after his wife's fob went through the washing machine. He said the EVIC screen had been flashing "Key Fob Not Detected" off and on for a week, and now the surviving fob was acting up too, short range, slow to wake the push-to-start.
I pulled up and popped his remaining fob open on the hood. The CR2032 was corroded on one terminal, probably moisture from sitting in a cup holder. Cleaned the contact inside the fob shell, dropped in a fresh battery, and it snapped back to full range.
Then the real job. I connected through the OBD port, pulled the 4-digit PIN from the RF Hub module, and programmed a brand new M3N-40821302 fob with the 5026676AH board. Cut the emergency key blade to match his door cylinder, tested both fobs on start, lock, unlock, hatch, and panic. Walked around the truck checking passive entry on every door handle.
He stood there holding the washed fob, water stain still visible on the circuit board, turning it over in his hand like he was deciding whether to be mad at it or his wife.
