If neither key works, you're likely looking at something in the immobilizer system itself rather than the key. A low vehicle battery can also cause the immobilizer ring to not read the chip properly, so if the battery has been weak or recently jumped, that's worth ruling out first.

What you don't want to do is keep trying a key that's failing repeatedly. Multiple failed start attempts can sometimes lock the system into a security lockout mode. If basic checks don't resolve it, call me before you get into that territory.

Can I program a second transponder key for my 2003 Durango myself at home?
