2013 Ford Flex Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in Oxnard, over by the Del Sol shopping area, had a 2013 Flex Limited that wouldn't respond to his smart key after he swapped the CR2032 himself. He thought the battery was the fix. Instead, the dash just sat there with "No Key Detected" and the push button start did nothing.
He had a full afternoon of work ahead. Couldn't leave, couldn't get the car towed during business hours, and the dealer he called quoted him a wait of over a week for an appointment, plus a tow to get it there.
I drove out during his lunch window. Parked next to the Flex in his office lot. I used my HU101 Lishi to check that the mechanical side was clean and undamaged, then opened the fob on his hood. The CR2032 was new but seated slightly off, and one of the battery contacts had gotten bent during the swap. Straightened the clip, reseated the battery, and the fob woke up.
Then I plugged into the OBD-II port and ran the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) module to confirm the key was still registered. It was. The system just needed to re-sync after the power interruption. All five buttons tested good, doors, trunk, remote start, the whole set.
He walked out of his 1pm meeting to a working fob. Car never left the spot. He kept looking at the key like he expected it to quit again. It didn't.
