Got a call from a woman near Five Points Shopping Center in Oxnard. She'd come back to her 2017 Ford Flex in the lot and nothing worked. No chirp, no door handle response, push-button start dead. Pulled up the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) module on the BCM, which on these second-gen Flex models runs through the body control module, part number BT4T-15604-BL on most 2017 builds. Both her keys were still registered. No fault codes stored besides a low-key-battery warning in the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module.
Swapped the CR2032, cleared the stored code, and tested everything: lock, unlock, remote start, panic, liftgate release button. Walked around the car and triggered both front door handle sensors. All good.
She sat in the driver's seat, hit the start button, and just held the wheel for a second. That quiet moment where the stress leaves.
She was home before lunch. The dealer route would have cost her two days and a tow. She skipped all of that.
