I was already in Montecito on a Friday night, wrapping up a job near Coast Village, when the call came in at 8:45pm. A couple had walked out from the area near the tiki bar, keys in hand, and nothing was happening. No response from the fob, no lock, no unlock, no acknowledgment from the car at all.

The CR2025 inside was not just weak, it was sitting at a slight angle where someone had popped the case at some point and the retaining clip had lost its tension. Battery looked fine. Contact was intermittent.
Reseated the battery with the clip tensioned properly, closed the case, and the fob woke right up. Tested every button, walked the doors, confirmed the car started. Took maybe ten minutes total once I had it in hand.
They drove home that night. If they had called the dealer, they would have been told Monday, full stop. Mobile means I was already on the street with the right parts and tools when they needed someone.
