A roofing contractor called me at 6:30 in the morning from a supply yard near Promenade Park in Ventura. His crew was already on the clock, trucks waiting to get loaded, and his 2011 Mazda 6 would not start. Push button did nothing. Dash just sat there dark.

The second-gen Mazda 6 has a built-in security timer during registration, about seven minutes where you just stand there and wait. No way around it. Hands-on time plus the wait came out to around 30 minutes.
He was loaded and pulling out by 7:30. The dealer quoted him a tow plus a wait measured in days, not minutes. He did not have days. He had a crew standing in a parking lot.
