2010 Mazda 6 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was called out to Pierpont on a job that was already a mess before I got there.
A shop foreman at an alignment shop in Ventura had a customer's 2010 Mazda 6 sitting in the bay, won't start, and the customer was in the waiting room. Another locksmith had attempted to program a replacement smart key. Somewhere during the security wait sequence, the tool lost connection. That dropped communication mid-cycle locks the immobilizer into a fault state, and some techs, when they see that, just apologize and suggest a tow.
When I arrived the car was showing a key warning on the dash and wouldn't respond to the fob at all. Not a dead key, not a bad cut. A module sitting in a fault state because the previous attempt didn't finish clean.
I stabilized the battery voltage with my jump pack first, because low voltage during a programming sequence is usually what caused the dropout in the first place. Then I cleared the fault codes through the OBD port and verified I had a clean baseline before touching anything else. Once the module came back to a normal state, I ran a fresh programming sequence from the beginning. The four-button fob registered on the first complete attempt.
Start to finish it was about an hour and fifteen minutes. The shop foreman watched the whole thing. He didn't say much until the car started, and then he said he'd been telling the customer it might need a dealer tow. It didn't.
The dealer route would have meant a tow, a service appointment, and a wait. This was done in the bay, on site, same afternoon.

“Tim was GREAT. I honestly swear he must have had my keys made before he even showed up. The entire process was insanely fast, from the initial phone call to having the keys in my hand. No one will beat the pricing, efficiency, or outstanding service.”
“This is the only locksmith anyone should ever call. I am still shocked at how fast he arrived and the price was hundreds less than other quotes I received. Honest, professional, and extremely efficient.”
“Locked out on a weekend night and everyone else wanted $300+. EZ Car Keyz sent Roman late at night for much less. He worked for over an hour and did not give up until the door opened. They even made a new key on the spot.”
