2006 Nissan Armada Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in North Fillmore, I got a call from a guy who works nights. He had a 2006 Armada that was starting fine in the mornings but throwing a key-not-detected warning by the time his shift ended at night. He figured it was a wiring issue, maybe something in the steering column. He had already been to a locksmith, who made him a replacement key a little over a week before he called me.
I asked him to describe what was happening exactly. He said the car would start the first cycle, sometimes the second, and then just stop cooperating. The remote portion would lock the doors but unlock was hit or miss. He thought maybe the car had two separate problems.
It didn't. It had one problem, and it started with the key that was made for him.
When I got to his Armada in the parking lot, I checked the key that the other locksmith had made. The transponder chip inside was not the correct type for this application. What makes that tricky is that a wrong chip can sometimes pass the initial programming and even start the car a few times before the security system works through its full verification cycle and rejects it. That's exactly what happened here. Eight days of starts, then nothing.
The remote-head key on these also has a CR1620 battery that was sitting low, which was adding a second layer of inconsistency to the whole picture.
I programmed a new key with the correct transponder matched to the factory fob spec for this vehicle, replaced the battery, and walked through every button function at the door to confirm it was behaving. Then I had him start it three times in a row. Solid each time.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him more than double what he paid me total, including the first bad key. The difference in this case wasn't the equipment. It was knowing which chip actually belongs in a 2006 Armada remote-head key.

Reviews from customers we rescued
“My ignition would not turn in La Jolla and I thought I needed a tow. EZ Car Keyz repaired the ignition on the spot and also made a spare key for safety. The technician worked carefully and confidently.”
“Niv showed up, did his thing, and just like that I had two new keys for a fraction of what the dealership quoted. I have zero reservations recommending him to anyone who needs car keys replaced.”
“We had one broken key for our Honda Civic and one working key for our Lexus. Tim came out and cut three remote car keys at a great price. All keys worked perfectly. Professional, courteous, and highly recommended.”
