Out near Point Mugu State Park in Oxnard, a long-haul delivery driver had his 2018 Armada sitting on the shoulder with a snapped key blade stuck in the ignition. Broke clean in half. He was already rattled when he called me because another locksmith told him the whole ignition cylinder needed to be drilled and replaced. New keys, new cylinder, big bill, long wait.
I drove out and took a look. The broken NSN14 blade fragment was seated deep, but the wafers were undamaged. I got my DAT17 Lishi in there, worked the fragment out slow, and didn't scratch a single wafer surface. Once it was clear, I decoded each wafer position for the exact cut depths right off the lock.
Cut a fresh blade from the decode. Programmed the 46 chip transponder through OBD, registered the CWTWB1G744 fob to the NATS6 system, and tested the whole loop: proximity unlock on all four doors plus the hatch, push-button start, and the backup hold-fob-to-button method just for good measure.
No drilling. No new cylinder. No ignition assembly swap. His original lock works with the new key exactly the way it did the day he bought the truck. He sat in the driver's seat and just turned the AC on and stared out the windshield for a second, like he needed a minute. I get it. Being stranded does that.
