Over in Peninsula Park in Oxnard, a pharmacy tech flagged me down about her 2016 Armada. She bought it used with one key, always meant to get a spare, and never got around to it. Then the CWTWBU624 housing cracked at the seam and the emergency blade snapped clean off when she pulled it from her scrub pocket. Fob in two pieces. Here is the thing that saved her time and money. The PCF7952 transponder chip inside the broken shell was still intact. I used my programmer to read the chip data straight from the cracked fob instead of running a full all-keys-lost procedure through the OBD port. AKL on these takes longer because the BCM needs a timed seed-key handshake before it will accept a blank registration.
I decoded her door lock cylinder, cut two fresh NSN14 blades, and built two new Intelligent Key fobs with the cloned chip data. Showed her the tiny chip from the broken housing so she could see why I was keeping the old pieces.
She went from zero working keys to two in about 40 minutes. The whole thing cost a fraction of what the dealer quoted her. If your fob is cracked or broken but you still have the pieces, bring them. That chip inside can save you real money.
