2015 Nissan Armada Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Down near Silverstrand Beach in Oxnard, a guy flagged me from the parking area by the volleyball courts. His 2015 Armada was sitting there with the hazards on and the dash showing "Key ID Incorrect." He had one working Intelligent Key left and it had just stopped cooperating mid-afternoon.
He popped the fob open himself before I got there. The CR2025 was corroded on one side, green around the negative contact. He wiped it on his shorts and put it back. That did not help.
I cracked the CWTWBU624 housing properly on the hood, cleaned both battery terminals, and seated a fresh CR2025. The backup method worked right away, holding the fob logo-side against the start button, but the passive unlock on the door handles was still dead. That told me the old battery had been dying slowly for a while and the BCM needed to re-see the key at full signal strength.
I connected my IM608 to the OBD port, pulled up the NATS5 module, and confirmed his key ID was still registered. No reprogramming needed, just a re-initialization cycle. After that, I tested every function: lock, unlock, hatch release, panic, passive entry on all four door handles, and three clean start cycles from 30 feet.
He kept saying he thought the whole Intelligent Key unit was dead. It was a corroded battery contact and a tired CR2025. Took about 20 minutes total, and he paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted him over the phone.
