A teacher from the Nyeland Acres area called about her 2023 Armada. Said the key worked fine in the morning, then at lunch it wouldn't unlock the doors.
When I got there, she was doing the door handle dance we all know. Touch, wait, pull. Touch, wait, pull. Nothing. The CWTWB1G744 fob lit up when she pressed buttons, but the car ignored it completely. She'd already swapped the CR2032 twice.
I hooked up my Autel IM608 and pulled codes. B2799 - "Key ID Registration Error." That's the BCM saying it forgot who this key was. Common on these when the BCM software gets glitchy. TSB NTB17-055a covers it, but most people never hear about that bulletin.
Did a key relearn right there in the school parking lot. Delete all keys, add hers back, then programmed a second one she decided to get after seeing how fast the first one got forgotten. The BCM took both keys on the first try. Door handles started responding to touch again.
The dealer quoted her three days wait and wanted way more than what I charged for both keys combined. Plus she would've needed a tow since the car wouldn't unlock.
