I programmed the new fob through the OBD-II port, registered it alongside his original, and cut the blade on the van. Then the part I never skip: testing every button, walking each door handle for proximity unlock, checking the liftgate release, and verifying push-button start from both front seats.
He stood there clicking the spare and the original back to back, trying to find a difference. There was not one. Where aftermarket goes wrong is cheap sourcing. I test every batch before it goes in the van, so that conversation never has to happen on a customer's car.
