Out near Hobson Park, a guy called me about a 2022 Armada that wouldn't acknowledge his fob at all. Not intermittent, not weak range. Just nothing. The push-button start was dead, the door handles weren't responding to touch, and he was standing in a parking lot with a fob that felt completely bricked.

When I got there I popped the fob open on the hood. The battery was in correctly, but the cell itself measured low on my tester. Off-brand CR2032s from convenience stores are notorious for sitting in inventory so long they're half-depleted before they ever go in a key. I swapped it for a quality cell, reseated everything, and the fob lit up immediately.
Then I walked the whole system anyway. Touch unlock on both front handles, lock button, checked the start button response with the fob at different distances, and made sure the emergency blade seated cleanly in its slot. Everything came back exactly where it should be.
He mentioned the dealer had told him over the phone it might need a full fob replacement and programming. We were done in about fifteen minutes with a battery swap and a proper test, for a fraction of what that dealer visit would have run.
