2004 Nissan Maxima REMOTE-HEAD-KEY Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy out near Point Mugu State Park in Oxnard. His 2004 Maxima was sitting in the lot and his only key had snapped right at the blade, the plastic head in his hand and the metal stuck in the ignition cylinder.
He had already called the Nissan dealer. They wanted the car towed in. He asked how long. They said two to three days because key orders go through their parts desk first, and the CWTWB1U751 remote head was not something they kept on the shelf.
I pulled the broken blade out of the cylinder with an extractor. No damage to the wafers. Cut a fresh NI04 blade on my mobile unit, matched to his door lock code so I did not have to rely on the broken piece. Seated the new blade into a CWTWB1U751 shell with a fresh 4D60 chip and a new CR1616.
Then I plugged the IM608 into the OBD port under the dash, connected to the BCM, and ran the NATS5 key registration. The Maxima accepted the new transponder in about two minutes. Tested all four buttons, cycled the ignition three times, confirmed the security light on the dash went out and stayed out.
He was leaning on the hood watching the whole time. When the engine turned over clean, he just nodded. That was it. No tow, no waiting days for a parts order, no second trip.
