A strip mall shop owner near Goleta Beach Park in Santa Barbara flagged me down about his 2016 Murano. He wanted a spare smart key but wanted to know if it would hold up as a daily driver, not just a glovebox backup. He asked it point blank: "Is it as good as dealer?"

His original fob was the KR5S180144014, five buttons, the same Continental board that Nissan sources across the third-gen Murano and Pathfinder lines. The aftermarket blank I carry uses the same NSN14 emergency blade profile, same 4A (Hitag AES) transponder chip that the NATS V immobilizer expects, same PCB layout with the same button spacing and snap-together fit.
I cut the blade on the van, paired the fob through the OBD port, registered both proximity zones so the door handles and liftgate responded, then tested every button including the remote start. Walked both front handles, popped the hatch, and ran the backup start with the fob logo held against the start button just to show him the dead-battery trick.
The whole thing took about 25 minutes in his parking lot. No appointment, no leaving the car somewhere overnight. The only visible difference between his keys is the Nissan logo on the back of the original. He pocketed the new one and went back inside.
Dealer would have taken longer and cost a good chunk more for the same end result.
