If the battery and contacts check out, the next thing to look at is whether the warning is specific to one entry point. If you get the warning at the driver door but not at the passenger door, or the start button only sees the fob when you hold it close, you may be dealing with a door antenna or handle sensor issue rather than the fob itself. That's a different repair.

If the warning is consistent across all entry points and the fob is confirmed good, then you're looking at a registration or module communication issue, and that needs diagnostic tools on the OBD port.

I bought a replacement fob online for my 2021 Murano. Can I program it myself?
