2009 Nissan Sentra Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman who ran a home daycare out of her bungalow near Hueneme Beach called me about a 2009 Nissan Sentra with a fob that had seen better days.
The shell had cracked near the blade, the rubber on the buttons was wearing thin, and the whole thing felt like it might fall apart in her hand. She had already called the dealer. They told her she needed a full replacement key, cut and programmed, no other option.
What the dealer did not tell her was that her chip and circuit board were working perfectly.
I came out to her place that evening. She was wrapping up with the last kid pickup of the day when I pulled up. We stood in the driveway while I opened the fob on the hood of her car. The board looked clean, no corrosion, no cracked solder points. The CR2032 still had a decent charge.
I transferred the working electronics into a fresh replacement shell, verified the snap fit, and seated everything properly. Then I decoded the blade from the lock and cut a matching key. Every button tested clean. The fob locked and unlocked from across the driveway.
She had been running on one key the whole time. So we also registered a second fob while I was there, which meant she left that evening with a rebuilt primary and a working spare for the first time in years.
The dealer quote was for a single key, full replacement, take it or leave it. She paid a fraction of that for a rebuilt key plus a second one. That is usually how this goes.
