Got a call one evening from a couple parked at Refugio State Beach in Santa Barbara. Retired, doing the coastal road trip thing, one key between them. The Intelligent Key fob just stopped talking to the car. Push the start button, nothing. Dashboard reading "NO KEY DETECTED" over and over.

Their 2010 Sentra uses the NATS5a immobilizer tied to the BCM, which on this generation is Nissan part 284B2-ZE03D on the base and SE-R trims. I connected through the OBD-II port, pulled communication with the BCM, and ran the key registration. New CWTWBU735 fob with the PCF7952 Hitag-2 transponder chip, programmed and paired. Tested proximity unlock on all four doors, push-button start, and trunk release. All four buttons responding.
The whole thing took about 25 minutes. They were back to watching the sunset while I packed up the van. No tow, no dealer waiting room, no burning a day of their trip sitting in a service lobby. Just a new working fob, on site, for a fraction of what the dealer quoted them.
