A guy near the Camarillo Premium Outlets flagged me down through a call on his lunch break. His 2007 Corolla S with the Smart Entry package had one working fob left, and it was getting flaky. The system on these uses Texas Instruments' DST encryption through a 4D-67 derived protocol, so chip generation on the VVDI matches what the car expects.

Cut the emergency insert blade, tested all four buttons, tested push-to-start from the driver seat and from the passenger seat. Checked that both fobs locked and unlocked on approach. The whole thing took about 35 minutes while he sat on a bench checking his phone.

He drove off with two working smart keys and the rest of his lunch break still intact. The dealer would have had his car for half a day minimum, and for a lot more money.
