I was already running a call on the west side of Simi Valley when a woman from the Royal/Kadota area reached me on the phone. She was parked at her kid's school for a conference. Her 2016 Corolla fob had stopped responding sometime during the meeting, and she had a hard pickup across town at 3pm. Toyota's system on this generation has a timed security process built in, so there's a stretch where you're just waiting on the system to cycle through. I use that time to prep the emergency insert blade and check the fob hardware. By the time the system was ready, everything else was done.

The whole thing took about 25 minutes on site. She drove out with a working fob and a tested backup blade, made her 3pm pickup, and didn't have to rearrange her week around a dealer's availability.
