It was about 5:20 in the morning when the call came in. A guy in Rose Park, Oxnard, was standing in the parking lot of a supply store and his crew was already loading up.
He had a 6 a.m. field start and his 2025 Corolla was just sitting there, push-button doing nothing, fob getting no response from the car at all. He said he'd been clicking it for ten minutes.

When I got there he was pacing near the front of the car with his phone flashlight on, which told me everything about how the morning was going. Swapped the cell, cleaned the contact points, had him try the backup position again. The car woke right up. Then I connected through the OBD port to verify the key was communicating cleanly with the immobilizer and check for any stored faults before I called it done. No stored codes, no registration issue, just a marginal battery that had crossed the threshold overnight when temperatures dropped.
Total hands-on time was about eighteen minutes. He was backing out of that lot before 6.
The dealer route on this would have been a tow, a same-day appointment that almost certainly wasn't available, and most of a workday gone. He paid a fraction of that and made his shift. I left him a spare CR2450 so the next cold morning doesn't catch him the same way.
