Out in Ormond Beach, late on a weeknight, a woman called me from a hospital parking lot. Her 2022 Corolla would not respond to anything. She had a tired kid just discharged from the children's ward and she needed to get home.

I opened the new fob, programmed it to the car through the diagnostic port, and walked every button and both door handles before I handed it to her. Touch unlock on both sides, start button, lock, unlock, the works. The whole call from her first ring to her driving out of that lot was under an hour.
The dealer was closed. Even if they had not been, she would have been looking at a morning appointment and a tow. She got her kid home that night, and that was the only thing that mattered.
