Out near Faria Beach in Ventura, I got a call from a guy who had already been down the wrong road with his 2005 CTS. He had bought a replacement key online, taken it to a locksmith, and it worked for about a week before the car started being stubborn in the afternoons.

I cut and programmed a new key with the correct transponder chip matched to this car, ran the relearn, and tested it through several start cycles before I left his driveway. No more afternoon mystery stalls.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a number he didn't want to say out loud. What I charged was a fraction of that. The whole job took less time than his drive to the dealership would have.
