2015 Cadillac CTS
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How does mobile key replacement actually work for a 2015 CTS smart key?

You call, give me the year, make, model, and VIN if you have it handy. I confirm the right fob for your car and walk you through pricing on the phone before I ever head out. When I arrive, I decode or verify the emergency blade cut, produce the blade, and connect my GM-specific diagnostic equipment to the OBD port.

Q: What do I need to have ready when you show up?

Three things: the vehicle, a valid photo ID, and proof of ownership, either the registration or the title. I pull the VIN from the dash or door jamb to confirm the key specs before cutting anything. Same documentation any dealer would require, just verified on site in a few minutes instead of at a service counter.

Q: I lost both keys to my 2015 CTS. Can you still make a replacement without a working fob?

Yes, and it is one of the more common calls I get on this car. All-keys-lost on a 2015 CTS is a defined procedure. I decode the door lock mechanically to produce the correct emergency blade, then use GM diagnostic equipment through the OBD port to clear the existing key registrations and enroll the new fob fresh. The old fobs, wherever they are, get wiped from the system so they cannot be used to start the car.

Q: My 2015 CTS fob feels like it has shorter range than it used to. Is the fob failing or is something else going on?

Start with the CR2032 before assuming anything else. A weakening battery on these fobs narrows the operating range noticeably before the fob stops working entirely. Owners on the CTS forums report this as a gradual fade: works fine at ten feet, misses at thirty, then one day the door handle touch unlock gets intermittent. Fresh CR2032, seated correctly with clean contact points, fixes it most of the time.

2015 Cadillac CTS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Dos Vientos, the houses sit tucked back in these quiet cul-de-sacs off Borchard Road. I pulled up to one and a guy met me in the driveway, one key in his hand, looking like he had already done the math on what losing it would cost him.

He had called the Cadillac dealer first. The service advisor quoted him a number that made him pause, told him to bring the car in, and that was the end of that conversation. He found me, figured the mobile route was worth a try, and here we were.

His 2015 CTS had one working smart fob. He just wanted a second one before something went sideways on a morning he could not afford. Reasonable request.

I decoded the door lock cylinder right there in the driveway, reading the cut positions off the lock so I could produce a correct emergency blade without needing the original key. Cut the blade, verified the fit, then connected to the OBD port and ran the fob registration through my GM equipment. The whole process took just under forty minutes.

He tested the touch unlock on both door handles, the start button, and each button on the new fob. Everything worked. He asked if the old fob would still function. It does. Both keys in the system, both active.

He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, never left his driveway, and still had time to get his kids to school.

Cadillac CTS Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do I need to bring my 2015 Cadillac CTS somewhere for key replacement?▼

No. I come to wherever your car is parked. Driveway, parking structure, office lot in Thousand Oaks, anywhere in the Dos Vientos area. All of the programming equipment I need travels with me. The dealer requires you to either drive in with a working key or arrange a tow if you have no keys at all. I handle both situations on site. You stay with the vehicle the whole time.
