2000 Cadillac Escalade MECHANICAL-KEY Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a guy over in Ojai Arcade who was locked out of his 2000 Escalade in the parking area behind one of the shops. Said his only key snapped right at the head while he was turning the ignition. Half the blade stuck inside the lock cylinder.

He had already called a Cadillac dealer. They told him it would need a tow, then a lock cylinder inspection, then a new key cut from the VIN, and he was looking at days before he could pick it up. He works six days a week and did not have that kind of time.

I drove out and pulled the broken blade piece from the cylinder with an extractor. No cylinder damage. The break was clean. I checked the old key head and the VATS resistor pellet was still intact on the broken piece, so I could read the resistance value right there.

Matched it to one of the 15 VATS codes, cut a new B62-P key blank with the correct pellet value, and tested it in the ignition. Cranked right up. No theft light, no four-minute lockout, no codes on the dash.

The whole thing took maybe twenty minutes. He sat on a bench and ate a sandwich while I worked. No tow truck, no dealer wait, no second trip. Just a clean key that fit and a working truck.
