Marine Emporium Landing in Oxnard isn't where you expect to find a brand new Escalade with key problems, but the owner runs a yacht detailing business and his YGOG20TB1 decided to quit after a pressure wash.
All six buttons were dead. The passive entry wouldn't respond to the door handle sensors. Push-to-start still worked if he held the fob right against the button, but that's not what you want from a 2023 luxury SUV.
I pulled diagnostic codes first. The BCM showed water intrusion history on the key itself. These fobs have decent sealing, but the battery compartment can let moisture in if the CR2450 isn't seated just right. I popped the fob open on his tailgate.
Sure enough, corrosion on the battery contacts and some moisture residue on the board. The pressure wash found its way in. I cleaned the contacts with DeoxIT, dried the board completely, and installed a fresh CR2450 with the gasket properly aligned.
Test time: all six buttons responsive, passive entry working both sides, remote start firing up perfectly. The dealer would've just sold him a new one for way more than what he paid me to fix the original.
He learned to keep that fob away from the pressure washer after that.
