Met a driver at Fremont Square Shopping Center with a 2022 Escalade showing "No Remote Found" on the dash. His YGOG20TB1 fob would unlock the doors maybe one time out of ten tries, but the push-button start worked if he held the fob right against it.
First thing I checked was the CR2450 battery. These pull more juice than older fobs because of the passive entry system constantly scanning. Battery tested at 2.8V, which sounds good but these need the full 3V to work right. Swapped in a fresh CR2450 and the range came back instantly.
But here's what got him: he'd already been to AutoZone twice for batteries. Turns out he was putting them in upside down. The positive side faces down on these, opposite of what most people expect. There's a tiny + symbol molded into the plastic but it's almost invisible.
While I had the fob open, I cleaned the battery contacts and checked the board - no corrosion, no cracks. These run on a T5 28-pin board that's pretty reliable if the battery doesn't leak. Did a full function test on all six buttons including the double-click tailgate release.
The dealer had quoted him a new fob and programming visit. All he needed was the right battery installed the right way.
