A woman in Mission Oaks called me on a Tuesday morning. She had a 2020 Chevrolet Spark and one working fob.
Her husband had taken the other one on a work trip and it went through the wash in his jacket pocket. Dead. She needed a spare before the weekend and had already called the dealer, who told her to come in, leave the car, and wait for a parts order.

I pulled up to her place in Mission Oaks with the fob already sourced. The Spark all-keys-lost situation is one thing, but a spare-key add when you still have a working fob is a cleaner job. Even so, the vehicle security system still has to recognize and accept the new fob through the diagnostic port. You can not just cut a blade and hand it over on this car. The fob has to be enrolled.
I ran the sequence with my scan tool, walked all five buttons, confirmed the push-button start was reading the new fob at normal distance, and handed it over. She tested it herself twice, standing a few steps back, just to be sure.
She mentioned the dealer had not even given her a price yet, just told her it would be a few days. She saved a good chunk and never lost the car for an afternoon.
