2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A pest control company owner up in Upper Ojai called me on a Tuesday. He ran a small fleet of work vans out of a yard off the highway, and his technicians had been mixing up keys between vehicles for months.

Every morning started with someone standing in the yard holding the wrong key, trying it in the wrong door. He called the dealer to sort it out with dedicated spares for each van. The quote came back at nearly four hundred dollars per key, and the dealer wanted each vehicle brought in separately.

Three separate trips, three half-days pulling vans off routes. That math does not work when you are billing by the service call.

I drove out to the yard one morning before his crew headed out. The 2005 Grand Caravan remote head keys use a six-button fob with the factory fob ID on the case and a CR2032 inside. I cut fresh key blades, programmed each key through the OBD port, and tested every button and every start on each van before moving to the next one. The body control module on each van accepted its own key and nothing else.

All three vans done before the first route of the day. He stopped losing mornings that same week. The dealer comparison was an afterthought he brought up himself on the way out.
