2017 Dodge Grand Caravan
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2017 Dodge Grand Caravan Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy on the Eastside, off one of the side streets near the breezeway of his apartment complex. He was a tattoo artist, working out of a shop nearby, and his 2017 Grand Caravan had become an embarrassment to carry. The FOBIK shell had split around the button panel. It wasn't cracked, it was crumbling, and he was holding it together with a rubber band.

He had already been to the dealer. They told him the only path forward was a full key replacement, programmed fresh, and named a price that made him wait three more weeks before doing anything about it. What they did not tell him was that the board inside the fob was working. Every button function checked out. The issue was entirely the housing.

I pulled up, met him at his van, and popped the fob open on my work tray right there in the breezeway. The electronics transferred cleanly into a replacement shell I had with me. Same button layout, same material feel, same fit. Snapped together, seated the CR2032 correctly, closed it up.

Then I walked every function. Lock, unlock, all seven buttons, wireless range from across the parking area. Everything came back exactly as it should.

He did not need a new key. He needed someone who looked at the problem instead of defaulting to a full replacement. The dealer quote was for parts that were still doing their job fine. He saved a good chunk, and I was back on the road in under thirty minutes.
