A guy in Dos Vientos called me about his 1999 Dodge Viper. He had one key left, it was worn down enough that it was starting to feel iffy in the ignition, and he wanted a spare before it became a problem. Reasonable thinking on a car like this.

I decoded the lock, cut a fresh key to match, and tested it in both the ignition and the door. Smooth in, clean turn. I also cut a second one while I was at it since he asked. He had been putting it off because he assumed it would be a production, something involving a dealer visit and a week of waiting.
It was not a production. It was a straightforward blade cut done in his driveway, and he had two working keys before I was back in my van.
The dealer comparison never really came up because for a pure mechanical key job, most dealers just send you to a locksmith anyway.
