Out near the Santa Paula Theater Center, a guy with a 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 lost his only key somewhere between the parking area and the sidewalk. He retraced his steps twice. Nothing. The car was sitting there and he was already looking up flatbed costs to get it to the dealer in Oxnard.
He called me instead.
When I got there, I used my Y159 Lishi to pick the door lock and decode the wafer positions to get exact cut depths. The Viper uses that same 8-cut Y159 keyway you see on a lot of Chrysler products, so decoding it is a clean process if you have the right tool and you take your time reading each wafer.
After that I connected through the OBD-II port and ran the Sentry Key all-keys-lost procedure on the WIN module. That wipes out whatever transponder codes were registered before and lets me program a fresh 4D64 chip as primary. Cut the Y160-PT blank on my machine, programmed it, and turned the engine over right there in the lot.
He stood there watching the whole time. Quiet. When the 8.4-liter V10 fired up he just nodded and said "that works."
I cut him a spare too. From lock decode to engine running, about 40 minutes. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a wait, and a bill that was a whole different conversation.
