1997 Honda Accord Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A retired postal worker out near Rose Valley Campground in Ojai called me about his 1997 Honda Accord. He needed a spare key and a working remote. His original remote had been flaky for months, sometimes locking, sometimes doing nothing, and he was down to one key total.

I drove out and cut the key on site. The 1997 Accord uses a standard mechanical key with no transponder, so the blank and the cut are the whole job on the ignition side. No chip registration, no immobilizer reset. The security on this generation is all in the remote.

For the remote, I opened up his old A269ZUA101 unit and found the CR2025 was corroded on one contact. Cleaned it, dropped in a fresh battery, and the range came right back. Then I programmed a second remote so he would have a backup.

He stood there watching the whole thing and just shook his head. He had been planning a full day around the dealer trip. Instead it took about 25 minutes in his driveway. He kept clicking both remotes like he was making sure it was real.
