A family staying at a rental near Wildwood Mesa Trail in Thousand Oaks called me on a Thursday evening. They were in town for the week, had one key for their 2009 Honda Accord, and the flip blade snapped clean off inside the driver door lock.

Programming the ID46 chip through the OBD-II port with my VVDI took about fifteen minutes. The timed handshake on these 8th-gen Accords is not instant, but it is predictable.
The dad stood there holding the old broken half the whole time like evidence. When the engine turned over and all four buttons responded, he just quietly set the broken piece on the porch railing and walked away from it.
