Got a call from a gentleman at an independent living complex near the Waverly Heights area in Thousand Oaks. His 2012 Honda Accord, his only car. He used a cane, and his daughter who normally drove him places was out of town. His single key still started the car, but the remote buttons were hit or miss, sometimes locking, sometimes nothing. I drove out that morning. His Accord ran the standard 8th-gen setup: HO66 keyway, ID46 transponder, separate 4-button remote. I used my Lishi HO66 to decode the lock on the driver door, verified the cuts, and cut a fresh key on site. Programmed the new transponder through OBD using the Honda token process on the IMMO box, which on these is the 38 ECU. Took a few minutes for the handshake to clear.
Then I paired his new MLBHLIK-1T remote and re-paired his old one so both were active. I popped the back cover off and showed him the CR1616 and how to swap it. He nodded like he was memorizing it.
He never left his building. Didn't have to call his daughter or arrange a ride to a dealer. Two working keys, done at his car, for a fraction of what the Honda store quoted over the phone. That was the whole point of the call.
