Got a call from a guy near the Newbury Park Bike Path in Thousand Oaks. His 2003 Accord was sitting in the lot at his office and his only key had snapped off in his hand right at the blade shoulder. The transponder chip was still in the bow, but the metal blade was stuck in the ignition cylinder.
He had already called a Honda dealer. They told him to tow it in, leave it overnight, and plan for a multi-day wait because the part number 35118-SDA-A11 key blank was not in their parts bin that week. He just needed to get home.
I pulled the broken blade fragment out of the cylinder with an extractor, then cut a fresh high-security HU66 blade on my Condor using the original broken piece as a reference so the depths matched. His car turned out to be a later 2003 build, so it took the ID46 chip. Programmed it through the OBD-II port with my IM608, registered the transponder to the immobilizer module, and tested all four remote buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, and panic. Full range from across the lot.
The whole thing took maybe 30 minutes. He stood there watching and eating a granola bar. When everything worked, he just nodded and said "that's it?" like he was expecting more drama.
He saved a good chunk compared to the dealer route, and he drove home that same afternoon instead of arranging a tow and a rental.
