2000 Honda Accord
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2000 Honda Accord Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy in RiverPark picked up a 2000 Honda Accord from a buy-here-pay-here lot off Gonzales Road. Decent car, clean enough, drove fine. Problem was it came with exactly one key, and the lot told him to sort out a spare on his own.

He called the Honda dealer first. They quoted him a number that made him pause long enough to go looking for another option. He found EZ Car Keyz and asked if the dealer price was just how it was. I told him yes, that is what dealers charge, but it is not the only way to get it done.

I met him at the lot before he even pulled out of the parking spot for the first time. He handed me the original key and I got to work right there. The 2000 Accord uses a transponder key with no remote functions - no fob, no buttons, just the key blade and the chip inside the head. I decoded the original, cut a new key blade to match, and programmed the transponder so the car's immobilizer accepted it as valid.

He stood there watching, which I always prefer. No mystery, no waiting room. When he turned the new key and it fired right up, he just nodded and said good. That was enough.

The dealer price never came up again after the first call. He already knew he saved a good chunk, and now he had two working keys before he even drove the car home.
