A store manager near Collins Drive corridor in Moorpark had a customer waiting on a furniture pickup. She walked out to her 2009 CX-9 and the push button wouldn't respond. Just the "KEY IS NOT DETECTED" message sitting there on the dash.

Cleaned the terminals, dropped in a new CR2025, and tested range from every door handle and the liftgate button.

Read the immobilizer PIN through OBD using my programmer, registered the new fob to the PCM, and verified both keys cycled through push-button start, door handle proximity, and all four remote buttons. Tested the original too, making sure adding a key didn't knock it out of registration.
She was back on the road in about 35 minutes, spare key in her purse. The dealer in Thousand Oaks quoted her days of wait time just for the part. She got it handled during a lunch break in Moorpark.
