2019 Mazda CX-9 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A gymnastics coach in Montecito, over near the Montecito Country Club, called the dealer on a Tuesday about his 2019 CX-9. Only key stopped working mid-afternoon, daughter had practice, he drives her every day and himself to two jobs after that. Dealer said Friday at the earliest, and the fob would need to be ordered.

His CX-9 uses the WAZSKE13D01 smart key, 4-button, with Mazda's Mitsubishi-based AES transponder security. I connected my Smart Pro to the OBD-II port and started the Mazda advanced smart key registration. There is a timed security countdown on these, right around 7 minutes, where the system just sits and thinks. Nothing you can rush. You wait.
While the timer ran I cut the emergency blade on the MAZ24 keyway. Tip-stop and shoulder-stop cuts on the same key, which is a Mazda thing that keeps you honest. I cut a test blade first, verified it turned the driver door cylinder and the ignition backup slot, then committed to the final cut on his fob's insert key.
After registration completed, I walked every function. Lock, unlock, hatch release, push-to-start. All clean. He had his car back the same day he called, not four days later.
