2001 Nissan Frontier
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2001 Nissan Frontier Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy over in the Peach Hill neighborhood in Moorpark. He'd lost his only key to a 2001 Frontier and had been putting off dealing with it for about a week, borrowing rides and calling it a temporary situation. It was not a temporary situation.

He'd already called the Nissan dealer. They told him to tow it in and they'd take care of it. He asked what that would cost him. The number he got back was enough to make him start looking for other options.

I drove out to where the truck was parked. He met me in the driveway, which was good because I needed to check the door lock and the ignition cylinder to get the cut right. A 2001 Frontier is a turn-key vehicle, and the job is exactly what it sounds like: decode the lock, cut the key blank to match, hand over a working metal key. No waiting room, no tow bill, no appointment three days out.

The part that seemed to surprise him most was how fast it went. He was back behind the wheel before he'd finished the coffee he'd poured when I pulled up.

The dealer comparison didn't come up much. He'd already done that math before he called me.
