2010 Nissan Frontier
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2010 Nissan Frontier Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A man in South Bank, Oxnard called me on a Tuesday morning from the parking lot of a dialysis clinic. He went three times a week and the Frontier was how he got there.

His only remote-head key still turned the ignition, but the remote had been dead for months and he was starting to worry about what happens when the whole key goes. He wanted a spare before he found out the hard way.

I drove over and met him in the lot while he waited for his session to start.

The mechanical side decoded clean. I cut a second key blade, matched the transponder through the OBD port, and paired both remote-head units to the car in the same session so neither one got bumped out. Lock, unlock, tested both keys in the ignition. The whole thing was done before he got called in.

He hadn't called the dealer because getting there was its own problem. Twelve miles isn't far unless you're managing treatment schedules and don't have a second car. When he found out what the dealer had quoted a friend for a single key, he was glad he called instead.

I was back on the 101 before 10 AM.
