2005 Nissan Frontier
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2005 Nissan Frontier Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A couple in Downtown Moorpark had just bought a used 2005 Frontier off an overflow lot. Clean truck, reasonable deal, came with one key. The lot told them to sort out a spare themselves, like it was a simple errand.

First stop was a hardware store. The guy behind the counter looked at the key, saw the rubber-capped head with the buttons built in, and sent them away. Then they called the Nissan dealer and got a quote that made them pause. They were not expecting that for a twenty-year-old truck.

They found me online and asked if the dealer number was real. I told them it was, but that I could do the same job for a fraction of what they were quoted. They asked if I could meet them before they drove the truck home. I said yes.

I met them in the lot. Decoded the blade from the existing key, matched a fresh blank, cut it on site. Then came the registration step: with a remote head key on this generation Frontier, you cannot skip the programming, and you cannot do it in pieces. I ran both keys together in the same session so the truck recognized them both and neither one got bumped out of memory.

They left with two working keys and did not have to tow the truck anywhere or sit in a waiting room. The dealer was an afterthought by the time I was packing up.
