A web developer in Mandalay Village Marketplace, Oxnard, called me from a steep hillside cul-de-sac. His 2019 Frontier was parked on a one-lane street with no turnout and no shoulder. The dealer told him to figure out how to get the truck there first. His broken key still had the transponder chip in the head, so I pulled the NATS pin from the BCM through OBD, read the existing chip data, and cloned it onto the fresh blank. Cut the blade to code right there on the sidewalk. The whole thing took maybe 20 minutes, most of that being the walk up the hill and setting up the cutter on a flat spot.
He stood there watching and said he'd been refreshing tow company pages all morning trying to find one with a smaller truck. Meanwhile the fix was a guy with a backpack and a key blank.
His Frontier never moved. The dealer quote assumed the truck could get to them. Mine just assumed I could get to the truck.
