A home daycare operator near Campus Canyon Park in Moorpark called about her 2006 Frontier. The key shell had cracked right along the seam near the blade pivot, the rubber button pad was wearing through, and she was holding it together with tape. She had already called the dealer. They quoted her a full new key, cut and programmed, and told her to budget for a tow or bring the truck in with the working key during service hours.
What they did not mention is that the PCB inside her CWTWB1U751 was fine. The 4D60 chip was fine. The three buttons still fired. It was just the plastic housing that gave up.
I drove out that evening with a replacement shell, my DAT17 Lishi, and a fresh CR1620. Popped the old housing apart on the hood, transferred her circuit board and chip into the new shell, and cut a new DAT17 blade by decoding her driver door. Tested lock, unlock, panic. Tested start. Everything talked to the NATS module like nothing changed.
Then I cut her a spare while I was there, programmed both keys together in one session so the ECU registered them both, and she went from one broken key to two solid ones.
The whole thing happened in her driveway while her kids were watching cartoons inside. No tow, no service counter, no waiting a week for a dealer appointment.
