But when I popped the fob, the real problem showed up. The positive battery contact had corroded green where moisture got in through a hairline crack in the case.
New 285E3-6HE1A smart key, programmed through OBD in about 12 minutes. The Frontier's system is one of the faster Nissans to code. Tested lock, unlock, panic, remote start, and push-button ignition.
Total time from his call to engine running: 38 minutes. Way less than what the dealer wanted, and his ice cream made it.
