2001 Toyota Avalon Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A woman near Apricot Lane Farms in Moorpark had been wrestling her 2001 Avalon ignition for weeks. Some mornings the key turned fine. Other mornings she sat in the parking lot wiggling it, trying different angles, putting both hands on it. She told me she started leaving early for everything just to budget the fight time.

The dealer told her the whole ignition cylinder needed replacing. New cylinder, new keys, full reprogram.

I drove out and checked the TOY43 lock. The cylinder itself was fine. The wafers inside were the problem. A few had worn down and were dragging instead of dropping clean. Classic issue on these older Toyotas.

Before I touched any mechanical work, I connected my ACDP to the ID box and backed up the immobilizer data right off the 93C46 EEPROM. That way if anything went sideways while I had the cylinder apart, the security side was covered. Then I decoded the lock, swapped the worn wafers, and cut a fresh TOY43 key to match the repaired cylinder. Programmed the new 4C transponder chip through the ID box.

She put the key in, turned it, and just sat there for a second. Like she was waiting for it to fight back.

It did not. Smooth turn, engine fired, security light off. The whole job cost a fraction of what the dealer wanted for parts she never needed.
