I got a call from a resident in Oxnard Shores on a weekday afternoon. His 2017 Avalon was sitting in guest parking inside a gated community, and the fob had gone completely dark. But I still ran the whole fob. All four buttons. Touch unlock on both front handles. Confirmed the insert blade fit the door cylinder. Walked the start sequence twice. When I sign off on a job, I sign off on the whole thing, not just the part that was obviously broken.
He asked what the dealer would have charged just to look at it. I told him to call and find out. He did, right there in the parking lot, and just shook his head.
