2007 Toyota Tundra Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from someone on the UCSB campus in Santa Barbara. She was parked in one of the campus structure garages, between patients at a medical office nearby, and her Tundra key had cracked through the plastic bow. The blade was loose and wiggling out of the head, and the 4D-67 chip inside was about to go with it.
The dealer told her to bring the truck in. She asked how. They said tow it. She had a full schedule and a parking garage that would make a tow driver miserable.
I drove to the structure during her break. Used my TOY43 Lishi to pick and decode the lock cylinder right at the driver door, pulled the bitting, and cut a new key on the mobile unit. Then I connected through the OBD port and registered a fresh 4D-67 transponder to the immobilizer ECU. The whole thing, decode, cut, program, took about 25 minutes.
The part people forget is verification. I cycled the ignition a few times, let the security light on the dash confirm it saw the new chip, and made sure the mechanical turn was clean with no binding. Her standalone remote still worked fine since it is independent of the transponder system on these.
She walked back to her truck after her last appointment. Two working keys, truck in the same spot it started the day. Never left the garage.
