A parent at the high school over in Mission San Buenaventura in Ventura was there for a conference when she realized her only key for the Tundra was gone. Jacket pockets, purse, center console, the ground around the truck. Nothing.

I pulled into the school lot about 40 minutes after her call. Her 2012 Tundra SR5 runs the 4D-67 transponder chip, no push-to-start, no proximity fob. Just a plain metal key with an embedded chip that talks to the immobilizer ECU through the coil antenna around the ignition cylinder.
I connected my programmer to the OBD-II port and ran the all-keys-lost procedure. On the second-gen Tundra, the immobilizer module lives on the instrument cluster circuit board, and the security handshake requires a seed-key exchange through the diagnostic tool. Once the new 4D-67 chip registered, I cut the TOY43 blade to code on the van's machine and tested it: door lock, ignition on, crank, start, kill, restart.
She made her 3pm pickup. No tow, no waiting room, no rearranging her whole week around somebody else's schedule.
